Diablo 3 Patch Overview

Every patch changed some mechanics, fixed bugs, added new cosmetics, balanced monsters, items and class skills. We listed only the biggest, most important game changes.
- 1.01-1.03 were released shortly after Diablo 3 launch in 2012. They addressed bugs, connection and server stability issues. Auction House went live 30 days after D3 release.
- 1.04 (2012) added Paragon with 100 level cap and revamped most of the legendary/set items, producing a wide selection of old legacy items which can be traded to this day.
- 1.05 (2012) added Monster Power 1-10 and Ubers, which drop legacy Hellfire Ring.
- 1.07 (2013) added basic PvP - Brawling.
- 1.08 (2013) added Book of Cain (mass identify).
- 2.0.1 (2014) pre-expansion patch disabled gold trading and made all newly dropped items account-bound (level 1-60 legendary/set items dropped prior to this patch remain tradable and are known as 'new legacy'). It changed difficulty system to Normal, Hard, Expert, Master, Torment (1-6) and removed Paragon cap. It also added Pools of Reflection, Kadala shard vendor and Clans & Communities.
- 2.0.4 (2014) was released soon after Reaper of Souls (ROS) expansion went live on Windows and Mac. ROS added new level cap of 70, Adventure Mode (Bounty and Nephalem Rift), Act 5, Crusader class, two new sets for every class, Mystic (ability to enchant and transmogrify), legendary potions and removed auction house.
- 2.0.6 (2014) removed unique crafting materials which were used to craft legendaries.
- 2.1.0 (2014) D3 ROS released on PlayStation and Xbox and introduced the first Season with new season-only legendary items. It added Greater Rift, Leaderboards, Ramaladni's Gift, Legendary Gems, Vault, Hellfire Amulet, mass salvage at Blacksmith and Rainbow Goblin (Cosmic Wings).
- 2.1.2 (2015) featured the second Season, added Ancient items and new goblins.
- 2.2.0 (2015) featured Season 3 and the first seasonal cosmetic rewards. It also added Wardrobe, new goblins and three new sets (Wastes, Unhallowed, Delsere).
- 2.3.0 (2015) added Kanai's Cube, Torment 7-10 difficulty, new Cow Level and Season Journey with Season 4. Nephalem Rifts stopped requiring Keystones and The Realm of Trials has been removed from the game. Infernal keys became Infernal Machines and three new sets were added (Uliana, Light, Arachyr).
- 2.4.0 (2016) featured Season 5 and Set Dungeons (Wings of Mastery), added Norvald set, option to Empower Rifts and extra stash tab for each completed Conqueror. It also made cosmetic pets pick up gold and added Caldesann's Despair (augmentation).
- 2.4.1 (2016) introduced Season 6, added Menagerist Goblin with 19 new pets and Rainbow Portrait.
- 2.4.2 (2016) featured Season 7, added Torment 11-13 difficulty and guaranteed 1-3 Greater Rift Keys from every Nephalem Rift.
- 2.4.3 (2017) featured Season 9 and Darkening of Tristram event, which happens each January. It also added extra chance to upgrade Legendary Gem if you don't die during GR clear and made dyes accessible through Mystic.
- 2.5.0 (2017) featured Season 10 and Primal Ancient items, added Armory and Storage for crafting materials. Bonus Bounties were removed and Horadric Caches were replaced with Large Horadric Chests.
- 2.6.0 (2017) featured Season 11, added Necromancer DLC and weekly Challenge Rifts.
- 2.6.1-3 (2018) D3 ROS released on Nintendo Switch.
- 2.6.4 (2019) featured Season 16, added red beam for Primal Ancient items, 5 additional Armory tabs (10 total) and removed legendary potions from inventory.
- 2.6.5 (2019) featured Season 17 and began re-introducing previous cosmetic rewards obtained from Season Journey, starting from Season 5. It added Torment 14-16 difficulty, Ancient Vault and ability to use search in stash. It also increased extra stash tabs obtained from Conqueror from 4 to 5.
- 2.6.6 (2019) featured Season 18, added Legacy of Dreams Legendary Gem and revised the most popular level 70 crafted sets.
- 2.6.7 (2019) featured Season 19 and added two new sets (Valor, POJ).
- 2.6.8 (2020) featured Season 20, guaranteed crafting plans from Bounty Chests and added three new sets (Savages, Mundunugu, Typhon).
- 2.6.9 (2020) featured Season 21, added two new sets (GOD, Masquerade) and changed power of SOJ.
- 2.6.10 (2020) featured Season 22 and changed Paragon Bonus Gold Find to Gold Pickup Radius (+5).
- 2.7.0 (2021) featured Season 23 and revamped followers to have 14 item slots and selected legendary powers and set bonuses transferring to you (Emanate). Leaderboards received filters: overall, by set or no set.
- 2.7.1 (2021) featured Season 24 and Ethereals.
- 2.7.2 (2021) featured Season 25 and Soul Shards.
- 2.7.3 (2022) featured Season 26 and added Echoing Nightmare and ability to close GR by speaking to Orek.
- 2.7.4 (2022) featured Season 27 and allowed killing multiple Uber Bosses without leaving the game.
- 2.7.5 (2023) featured Season 28, added Altar of Rites (Wings of Terror) and salvaging Primal Ancient item awards 55 Primordial Ashes, which you can use in Kanai's Cube to reroll any non-crafted legendary to Primal for 100 of them (can wear only one).
